Perform Plus - where your child can shine

From 'shaking their booty' in hip-hop to exploring jazz, tap and modern, many Perform Plus students really come alive when strutting their stuff.

For many children, creative movement is a much more enjoyable way of exercising their bodies than traditional sports. From "shaking their booty" in hip-hop to exploring jazz, tap and modern, many of my students really come alive when strutting their stuff. Monica Chapman

Dance call

The Dance call is lead by a West End Choreographer and includes the following:

Physical warm-up - This is an energetic and fun group of exercises designed to improve performance and reduce the chance of injury. It aims to make the muscles more stretchy, expand the range of joint movements possible and focus the children on the tasks ahead.

Dance techniques - A short section preparing the children for the specific requirements of the material to be covered. These might include particular steps, pair work or ironing out technical issues.

New material - The main part of the session is concerned with learning the routines which will form the dances in the finished performance. Starting with the individual steps, the Choreographer will progress to more detailed performance notes, interpretation and stylistic notes.

Recap and consolidation - A final section during which the children dance through what they have learned this week and previously.
